Behind The Scenes

Sometimes there's a story behind a photo that just has to be told.

'A Beautiful Holiday Photo ?'

'If you're on vacation, take some nice photos of it - okay?' Hmmm - yeah, okay. As a self-proclaimed Lomographer, I always wonder, 'What are nice photos of where I am?' Hey, I mean, seriously, as a Lomographer you photograph all sorts of things, but what's the connection for others to the place where you are? I mean, for those who look at the pictures? I guess I'm just not that far along in my Lomographic thinking yet to produce something that meets the expectations of a nice vacation photo. But come to think of it, should I even care? When I was waiting for the next tourist train in the beautiful town of Mergozzo with my buddy, this column with the Italian flag in front of it caught my eye. 'Is this a nice vacation photo of where I am right now?' Well, I'm in Italy, the flag is there, so why not? When I look at this photo, I'm instantly transported back there. I can feel the heat of that day, smell the food from the restaurants and pizzerias, hear people talking and children shouting. It's a memory for me. No one else can really relate to it. And that's what I love about Lomography. It's simply for you and maybe for those who were there too.
