Sudoku - let's talk about that :-)

If you had asked me before today what I thought of Sudoku, my answer would have gone something like this: “Those are the number puzzles I don’t understand. I don’t even want to understand them—they’re not for me!”

But as of today, something has changed. Let me explain it to you.

Today at work, as I often do, I was walking through our campground when I noticed a little girl (she was about 6 years old) who was deep in thought, poring over a piece of paper with a pen. As I walked by, I saw that she was solving a Sudoku puzzle. I was pretty impressed that a little girl her age was working on Sudoku, as you can probably imagine.

Back in the office, I thought to myself, “Damn, if little kids can do this, I should be able to figure it out too.” So I searched online for Sudoku puzzles designed for kids and just gave one a try.

Of course, I had to read through the rules again beforehand to understand how it all actually works. I was amazed at how easy it was to understand and, at the same time, fascinated by how deep the strategies that come from it are.

if you're interested. They are a real good startingpoint.

I just decided to give it a try, and I have to say, it’s incredibly fun. After solving two or three Sudoku puzzles, I couldn’t stop. I tried higher difficulty levels pretty quickly and failed miserably. But it makes me think—in a meditative way. No matter what you think of Sudoku, you should give it a try.

Have a nice evening—maybe with a Sudoku puzzle or two.
